The Context –
The street architecture had slanted roof. The site belonged to Raleigh, North Carolina which faces snowfall.
The client wanted a modern style of architecture in North Carolina with a recreational terrace. And we proposed a house with flat roof
The Flat roofs were designed to tackle the snow loads. The insulation provided was as per the IRC standards.
Since the site location was at a crossroads, so diagonal symmetry was proposed as the main design theme.
We also proposed a central courtyard with living, family, and dining spaces around.

We proposed the C-shape plan, with a central courtyard. Courtyard opens to the South Sun.
With appropriate location of courtyard, the living room, dining space, family space and Bedrooms enjoys the plentiful of sunlight throughout daytime.

The family space located at first floor, becomes the main gathering space for all the bedrooms. It Enjoys the south light and open to sky balcony facing the main street.
The master bedroom enjoys the morning east sun and a balcony facing the main street.

The house also recreational terrace and semi open seating space. The pergolas at terrace gives more heightened look in main facade.
Elevation primarily uses wooden clad and white stucco.

Family room balcony act as a void between two wooden masses. The wooden masses are articulated as independent geometrical forms.

As house is planned in C Shape with a courtyard. This space becomes the most important part of house.
The space is flushed with sunlight and becomes the main gathering space for whole house. All facades are finished in stucco and wood, but this space is given the life with the brick clad, wooden louvers and concrete projections.
